6. YOUR PLANNED TRAVEL & INTENDED ARRIVAL DATE

When do you intend to arrive in the UK?

This is one of the most important sections of the entire visa application

  • You need to put your intended date of arrival in the UK
  • When your visa is issued you will be given a 30-day window to enter from this date
  • You will not be allowed to enter before this date
  • If you arrive in the UK before this date then you will need to leave and re-enter in order to validate your Tier 5 visa on your passport
  • You must ensure your accommodation dates line up with your intended arrival date

Your BRP card!

  • Once you arrive in the UK you must pick up your BRP card within 10 days
  • If you do not then you will have to redo your biometrics and risk forfeiting your right to live and work in the UK
  • You cannot leave and re-enter the UK without picking up the BRP card

If you are planning on travelling first

  • If you are planning on going travelling or want to explore Europe before settling down to work then we recommend putting your visa start date as your intended date to arrive back in the UK to start work. That way you don’t waste any precious visa time going travelling or worrying about picking up your BRP card!
  • You can enter for six months on a tourist visa on arrival* and then leave whenever and re-enter the UK within the 30-day period that is stamped in your visa

*you might be asked to show a flight on proof of onward travel to show that you are intending to leave the country
